As a person who is soon to be making his living off of selling VWs, I can't not say how much we need this in the US market. I don't even want it as the Jetta CC, I just want it as the MkVII. This is a beautiful car, and would go a long way to repair the damage done by the early MkVI cheapening. Even if they don't want to make a base model look like this, and do the typical roof/headlight/body kit/wheel swap, they should at least make the Wolfsburg Edition and GLIs look like this!

I don't see enough distinction from the current CC or Jetta.

The devil is in the details.
But that's kind of the point. It's the best that the current Jetta could ever be. Look at the MkVI to MkVII Golf/GTIs and their evolutionary changes, and you'll see the same thing.

The Wolfsburg/GLIs didn't sell much when they were available and "good". No reason why they would fare any better with this VW Corolla. This doesn't even look either.

The new GLI isn't good? I think you must be confused.

All of these are genious. And even if it didn't have the twin-turbo setup, I'd gladly take a 300hp 3.6 VR6 from the CC. It's good stuff.

I've always thought the Skoda Octavia should've been the US Jetta

Not better than the MKV and not good enough for you to sell, apparently.

It pretty much already is I think. The problem had nothing to do with the car itself though. The problem was that VW made the decision to cheapen the Jetta to the point to where it was no longer special compared to the Civic/Corolla/Focus. If we had gotten the car in 2011 that we got in 2014, after they fixed it, then there wouldn't have been a problem. Or maybe if they'd only decontented the S.

Oh, I didn't say I couldn't. Even when I was a porter I talked people into the GLI all the time. Thanks for playing.

I've wanted them for years to fit the 3.6 into a Jetta. The 2.0T doesn't fit the character of the Jetta as well. If I was going to put down 30+ on a Jetta R, I'd want the VR6's smooth revs and natural torque curve. And I think a lot of other people that would choose a Jetta R over a Golf R would too!

I take anything over a Golf R, unless it's the R32 or Fahrenheit Edition, because ORANGE!!

I actually really like the Golf R. Especially in the Rising Blue or Carbon Steel. But when I'm 30 with kids? Probably gonna want something a bit different.

This rendering has caused so many headaches for me. It's been tossed around the internet, with people calling it the new Jetta, the new Passat, and yes, even the new Phaeton. And then people get into fights over it (especially the people who think it's the new Phaeton...seriously, people?). But despite the fact that it's purely conceptual art, I do like the look of it.

You can tell by the proportions that it's roughly Jetta sized. No idea how people are calling this the Passat or Phaeton. And while I agree that its problematic that people are proliferating these things, it could all be avoided if VW would give us some insight into their plans for this model or concept.

Me too. I would much prefer the thin halos to the chunky LEDs.

Actually, no matter how bland people might say VW is, I've found VW's styling to always be very strong. Like mid-90s to early-00s Honda. There is just enough detail to make it interesting and there are never any goofy curves breaking up a sharp continuity (BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes...you are all guilty!).
Even now, while they are so long into the angry-faced-car bandwagon, their cars still look sharp and they are still different from everybody else.
They just need better engine options. I am sick to death of 2.0T this and 2.0 T that. The engine is nearly 10 years old, VW, time to move on!

Yeah. Or maybe a turbo-charged 2.5 L 5-cylinder. Anything but the 2.0T would be welcome at this juncture.
